Happy 2025 my friends!
With this clean January slate lets set some ground breaking New Years resolutions that are both good for us and the planet... like stopping the incessant cycle of pre-washing our fabrics 6 times before finally getting to cut into them and sew.
My husband and I spend a little time at our off the grid acreage over the Christmas break. I took my Instagram followers on a little snowy walk and mused about sewing back in the day.
Were women just as obsessed about prints as we are today (doubtful). How did they show style back then? And, most importantly, when living on a homestead, were they also insistent on pre-washing their fabrics like we are today? Also doubtful if you consider that they had to haul water out of creeks.
So, naturally, I took to my YouTube channel and shared how I take shrinkage out of my fabrics, without the washer and dryer cycle. Maybe we owe this beautiful planet a rethink on how we prep our fabrics before sewing?
